In this workshop you will work on the unique arrangement by Pierre-Gérard Verny of the music from the musical film Les demoiselles de Rochefort (The Young Girls of Rochefort). In the form of a story, the scores have been rearranged for a choral jazz suite made up of a choir, soloists, narrator and jazz combo. This adaptation will take you back to the world produced by Michel Legrand and Jacques Demy. Sung audio files will be provided ahead of the workshop for you to prepare and learn songs by heart, so that a light choreography can be implemented! The music to this French story will be provided in advance.

Pierre-Gérard Verny is a choir director, composer, arranger and vocal jazz specialist in particular for polyphony. Winner of several competitions (La Défense, Crest, Florilège vocal de Tours) he has also been nominated to the Victoires de la musique with the vocal group SIX½. He has directed large choirs for internationally famous artists including Didier Lockwood, Henri Salvador, Rhoda Scott, Richard Galliano, Michel Fugain and Michel Legrand. Pierre-Gérard Verny is the Academic Superintendent for Choral Singing at the Educational Department in Créteil and heads the Jazz Vocal Collection at À Cœur Joie publishing.
