Songs from around the world strike a chord because they talk about us: lullabies, love songs or sad songs, songs to dance and to cry, songs for every occasion. These gems have been collected from around the globe. Authentic or revisited in unique arrangements for women, these songs have been strung together in a colourful chain. A cross-view of folklore from Sweden to Alsace, from the Balkans to Slovakia, from Albania to Zimbabwe, from Lithuania to Egypt… Vocal flexibility, physical and rhythmic ease and a thirst for discovery are the essential prerequisites!
Catherine Fender is a choir director and teacher. Her work is based on enjoyment, on the relationship between vocal gesture, touch, sound, body movement and space. She was a World Youth Choir singer and is a certified teacher who has taught at the conservatories in Strasbourg, Colmar and at the Haute-École de Musique in Basel. Fender created the Ksàng ensemble in Alsace and directs the Petits Chanteurs de Lausanne. Inventive, she composes for commissions and is called upon to teach master classes and feature in international festivals.
