Study Tour | for choral conductors

This atelier is ideal for choir directors, teachers and students who want to make the most of the Choralies by learning through observation, practice and discussion. Each day, you’ll examine scores, analyse their challenges, watch conductors lead ateliers and join in post-visit discussions. This approach will introduce you to new repertoires and fresh ways of working.
After selected concerts, you’ll dive into discussions about different aspects of choir direction, like conducting styles, interpretation choices, repertoire and staging. This atelier is led by seasoned conducting teachers who know the realities of working with amateur and professional choirs. Expect days filled with valuable experiences, lively discussions and unique opportunities for connection.

Biography

Ingari

Robert Ingari teaches choral conducting at Sherbrooke University in Quebec. He is the artistic director of the Quebec chamber choir and an associate composer with the Canadian Music Centre. As a professor, composer and guest conductor, Robert has taught at the Lyon Conservatory and worked with various French ensembles. His collaborations include the children’s and youth choirs of the Maîtrise Notre-Dame de Paris, the Dulci Jubilo chamber choir and Sequenza 9.3. Robert has published a French guide titled Effective Rehearsals: A practical guide for conductors with Éditions JFD. In 2018, he was awarded the order of choral merit by the Alliance Chorale du Québec.

Malgouyres

Perrine Malgouyres is the director of ARPA Occitanie and teaches choral conducting at the Music Education Department of Toulouse University. A singer and choir director, she studied at the conservatories of Toulouse and Aubervilliers, and started her choral journey under Joël Suhubiette in Toulouse. At a young age, she recorded Fauré’s Requiem as a soloist at the Athens Concert Hall. She also performed as a mezzo soloist in Hadyn’s The Seven Last Words of Christ with the Toulouse chamber orchestra, conducted by Gilles Colliard.
Perrine also coaches The King’s Singers on French diction. She holds a diploma in vocal ensemble conducting and has trained in Vocal Leadership in School at the Codarts Conservatory in Rotterdam, Netherlands.
