A Caribbean Fiesta

A travel to Caribbean destinations, to sing music rooted in Afro-Caribbean traditions filled with energy, rhythm, and dance.

A Caribbean Fiesta

One of the most fascinating aspects of Latin American music is its diversity among and within countries. Each nation has musical expressions that represent various cultures, ethnic groups, cultural backgrounds, regional flavors, instrumentation, and even particular cadences and accents in their language. Throughout time, choral music in Latin America has been an excellent outlet for national identity as well as a fruitful space for cultural cross-pollination. The choral output of the entire region of Latin America is large and rich.
In this session we will specifically travel to some Caribbean destinations, and will sing music rooted in Afro-Caribbean traditions filled with energy, rhythm, and dance. We will present music written in diverse genres: Cuban Son, Aruban Calypso, Puerto Rican Bolero, Venezuelan Polo, Brazilian Maracatú, and others.
Come and immerse yourself in the traditions of these nations, as you enjoy these contagious dances and become part of A Caribbean Fiesta
