An die Musik

Come and immerse yourself in the German Romantic aesthetic of the 19th century: superb melodies, in an incessant dialogue with the piano, punctuated by contrasts and ruptures. On the program: varied, emblematic pieces by Schubert, Brahms and Mendelssohn.

An die Musik

To ensure a good balance of voices, we will no longer accept Alto, Mezzo or Soprano registrations for these ateliers. Registrations made before January 14, 2025, 12:00 noon, will be validated.

The pieces to be worked on explore secular lieder as well as great sacred vocal frescoes, not forgetting some beautiful sacred pages… Themes as diverse as peace, death, love and the power of music are at the heart of each piece, with a particularly expressive piano part.
Here is a journey into the aesthetics of the German Romantic period, with its poetry, its élans, its phrasing and its strengths: from An die Musik to Begräbnisgesang.
Two sacred pieces round off this program. The first, Begräbnisgesang, was composed by Johannes Brahms for a funeral service. This powerful, luminous piece evokes the German Requiem he would compose ten years later. The second, Verleih uns Frieden, composed by Felix Mendelssohn, is an ode to peace whose wonderful melody will never leave you!
