To celebrate the 150th anniversary of Carmen, the “À Cœur Joie Paris Federation” presents “Carmen in swing… and classic”, a lively reinterpretation of Bizet’s opera orchestrated by Pierre-Gérard Verny. This unique work fuses the timeless melodies of Carmen with the jazz energy and improvisation, offering a new interpretation of the masterpiece.
This concert showcases the talent and dedication of high-level amateur singers accompanied by secondary school students from Vaison-la-Romaine and Avignon. Together, they’ll revisit famous tunes like “Habanera” with a jazzy twist, fusing tradition and modernity.
This jazz version transcends genre boundaries and offers an emotional musical experience full of surprises. Accompanied by a jazz combo and a string quartet, the amateur singers – the true stars of the project – will unleash a passion and vocal talent rivalling that of professional productions
This is much more than a simple homage to Bizet – it’s a celebration of lively music swinging to the jazz beat, an unforgettable evening where the magic of Carmen will touch both classical music enthusiasts and jazz lovers.
