François Bessac studied classical piano, singing and choral direction. He has explored a great number of sacred works with the À Cœur Joie ensembles in Grenoble. Conscripted, he sang in the French army choir where he co-founded the Phonandre vocal ensemble for 12 male voices, and the winner of several competitions. Intrigued/Enticed by “non-classic” polyphonies, he created the Charlatan Transfer jazz ensemble at the age of 21. He continues to push the group to excel and continually reinvent itself. His bass voice and his arrangements serve the jazz quintet Sparking Voices as well. Bessace shares his choral experience in jazz through regular attendance at workshops and singing sessions.
