Experience
Bénévoles!

Non-native French speakers are welcome to apply for volunteering.
All the communication within the teams is in French, so you’ll need a correct command of the language (understanding this page for example).

For over 70 years, the organization and staging of an event as unique as the Choralies has been possible only thanks to the involvement and dynamism of volunteers. Driven by the pride of achieving something unique together, and the pleasure of experiencing an enriching human adventure, volunteers have always formed the foundation on which the success of the Choralies is built. You too can join the 450 or so volunteers who, spread across some twenty departments, will be living out their passion for choral singing behind the scenes!

As a volunteer, you’ll enjoy free access to all evening shows at the Théâtre Antique, free admission to afternoon concerts, and special rates at the Choralies restaurant and campsite. You’re also invited to the “Services” dinner on July 29 (attendance essential) and the final lunch on August 8.

The following is a list of the services we have available and the tasks we require volunteers to carry out. To make your volunteer experience as successful as possible, make sure you apply for a service whose profile matches your personality, experience, availability and physical ability.

Volunteering is open to all, choir members or not, members of the association or not. A good level of physical fitness is required.

You must have reached the age of majority oner day of the festival. Exceptional exemptions for 16-17 year olds may be granted by the organization, under delegation of responsibility to an adult present and registered for the Choralies during the same period.

A 10-day human adventure

Volunteers can only apply for the full duration of the Choralies, plus at least one day of preparation with other volunteers. You must be present at the festival from the afternoon of July 29 to August 8, 2025.

Because of their specific function, participation in certain services may require a little more advance notice. Depending on your availability, you may be able to volunteer to help with preparations at an earlier stage.

Would you like to take part in a workshop and be a volunteer? It’s possible, but…

Any chorister who registers for an atelier can also apply to volunteer at the festival!

He must be aware, however, that his days will already be particularly busy: taking part in rehearsals in the mornings, attending concerts or enjoying other activities in the afternoons, then experiencing the concerts in the evening at the ancient theater.

As a result, it takes a huge commitment on the part of each candidate to have sufficient time to carry out voluntary work in addition to a workshop. That’s why some services are totally incompatible with workshop participation.

Volunteer applications are validated according to a predefined process, in conjunction with the department managers.

How are missions assigned?

In the first place, this depends on the number of staff allocated to the requested service and the number of places still to be allocated.

The selection of volunteers for the Choralies is based primarily on the time available to carry out assignments while participating in the festival. When registering for the Choralies, participants identify themselves as volunteer candidates. Volunteers will then be selected by applying the following criteria in order:

  1. Priority is given tocandidates who do not take part in the workshops, so that they can devote themselves fully to their voluntary work.
  2. Candidates registered for a workshop lasting from 1 to 5 days out of the 8 days of the festival, on condition that the volunteer assignments are compatible with their schedule and that they are present for the entire duration of the festival.
  3. Lastly , candidates registered for the 8-day atelier are assigned to a department that allows them to carry out their duties in the afternoons.
Please note that few places will be available under this scenario. What’s more, it may mean that these candidates are unable to attend all the concerts included in their package, which they tacitly accept.

The analysis of applications and the action to be taken are specific to the organization and do not need to be justified. All applicants will be informed by e-mail whether or not their volunteer status has been validated. If not, the applicant will remain registered as a Choraliste.

Please note: Volunteer” discounts on any Food and Lodging services subscribed to will only be applicable once this status has been confirmed by the organization.

For volunteers accepted by the organization, the Volunteer Pass is free. It gives access to the evening concerts at the Théâtre Antique. Volunteers from the “Accueil du Public”, “Régie de Scène” and “Billetterie” departments are entitled to attend afternoon concerts. Volunteers “without atelier” from other departments will also be able to attend afternoon concerts. They will benefit from 3 access rights that can be used on a day-to-day basis, without the possibility of booking, subject to the number of places available at the entrance. Information on remaining places by concert venue will be communicated via the Choralies application on their smartphone.

Volunteers benefit from a special discount if they wish to take advantage of the festival’s accommodation and/or catering services. They may also choose to provide their own accommodation and food.

Having read and tacitly accepted the Volunteer Agreement between the participant and the A Coeur Joie association, you hereby apply for a volunteer role using the general registration form for all choral singers. Whether or not you’re taking a workshop, you can indicate your wish to volunteer, including the service you’d like to provide. including the department you’d like to join.

July 6, 2025: Registration for the festival is closed, but there are still a few places available for volunteer service. Send an e-mail directly to benevoleschoralies@gmail.com indicating your wish and your full name and date of birth.

The services to be provided and the tasks to be carried out by volunteers are described below, and in more detail in certain additional information sheets. To make your volunteer experience as successful as possible, make sure you apply for a service whose profile matches your personality, experience, availability and physical ability.

After analyzing your application, and depending on your needs, the organization will contact you to either :

  • confirm your assignment to this department
  • suggest you join another department
  • to indicate that your request cannot be granted. You can then choose to adapt your registration as a “Choraliste”.
