Registrations

Registration is online at www.choralies.fr

The Choralies is a non-profit, non-commercial festival. Participation in the ateliers is reserved for members of À Cœur Joie (or À Cœur Joie International or the European Choral Association – Europa Cantat). If you are not already a member, please see below for details of how to become one.

Once you’ve entered your profile, the length of your stay, and your choice of ateliers, catering and accommodation, you can proceed to secure online payment, or pay later by another method (bank transfer, cheque, ANCV…). You can choose to pay either the full amount or a deposit.

The deposit is a minimum of 255€ (or the full registration fee if less), to which must be added any A Coeur Joie membership fee. The balance must be paid before June 1, 2025.

If you have any difficulty in using digital tools, the À Cœur Joie secretariat is available to help you at +33 4 72 19 83 40.

Because of the Choralies lifestyle, the climate and the rhythm of the activities, you need to be in good physical and psychological condition to enjoy your stay.

Content and duration of your registration

A person registered for the Choralies benefits, during its period of validity

  • access to the assigned musical ateliers and their activities,
  • admission to evening events at the Théâtre Antique,
  • tickets for afternoon concerts, according to the rules defined in the Concerts-Billeting section.
  • any optional services booked (accommodation, catering).

Registration is for 1 to 8 consecutive days. It is therefore not possible to register for two periods separated by an absence (the first two days plus the last day, for example).

Please note: A “Choralies day” begins with the evening at the Théâtre Antique on D-1 and continues with the afternoon workshop and concert on D-day.

If your package includes the day of Sunday August 3 (Off evening at the Théâtre Antique), you can attend the evening of your last day instead.

Participant categories

For the various activity, benefit and contribution rates, the reference age is September 1, 2024.

For access to the ateliers, the reference age is July 30, 2025.

All ateliers are open to people aged 16 and over, except for junior ateliers (see ages defined in each workshop).

Passenger-singer

Some choristers come to Vaison-la-Romaine just to give an afternoon concert with their choir or regional group. A special rate is granted to this category reserved for members of a choir belonging to the À Cœur Joie association.

Two options:

  • Choralies Evening Pass
On the evening of the choir’s visit: dinner at the Choralies restaurant and admission to the concert at the Théâtre Antique. Applicable only on the evening following the concert of the group in which the singer-passenger is participating (except Sunday August 3, when there is no concert at the Théâtre Antique).
  • Choralies Day Pass
Identical to the “Soirée Choralies” Pass, with the following day’s added extras: breakfast, participation in the “1 Jour 1 Thème” atelier and lunch at the Choralies restaurant.

These choristers will be informed by their group leader of the conditions of reception and will be registered by the latter as “Passager-chanteur” by means of a special registration form. These day passes can only be used once, and cannot be combined with any other Choralies registration.

Conditions for under-age participants

Minors (under 18 as of 08/08/2025) may register individually, provided they are under the responsibility of a parent or adult present at the event. parent or an adult present in Vaison-la-Romaine during the same period.

Parental authorization must be provided. The document can be downloaded here : choralies.fr/documents

Participants in Junior Ateliers must also provide a passport photo and any medical certificates required by the supervisors (treatments, allergies, etc.).

Accessibility

With each edition, the festival strives to improve its facilities for people with disabilities (PWD), so that everyone can enjoy the Choralies in the best possible conditions.

The main measures implemented include priority access to the site, dedicated parking spaces in the Théâtre Antique, shuttle buses to reach your workshop sites, and adapted toilet/shower facilities on the campsite.

However, we would like to draw your attention to the constraints specific to each site made available for the Choralies, which do not all guarantee total accessibility, particularly for certain atelier rehearsal rooms or to get to the Eglise de la Haute-Ville via the old cobbled streets of the old town.

For further information, please contact the A Coeur Joie secretariat on +33 4 72 19 83 40.

When you register, you can indicate that you are a disabled person in order to obtain a ‘Rapid Access Pass’ badge. To do this, you will be asked to enclose a copy of a certificate (disability card, priority card for disabled people, European parking card, mobility inclusion card, etc.) with your registration.

In addition, if this proof expressly stipulates the need for an accompanying person, the À Cœur Joie secretariat will contact you to formalize the registration (for the same dates and services as you) of this person, who will benefit from a totally free Music/Concert ticket.

Membership and Insurance

Les Choralies is a non-profit, non-commercial festival. In compliance with the French tax authorities, participation in the workshops is reserved for members of the À Cœur Joie association.

The following are exceptionally exempt from this membership requirement, upon presentation of documents attesting to their situation:

  • direct members of network associations À Cœur Joie International
  • members of associations belonging to the European Choral Association – Europa Cantat (ECA-EC)

as well as

  • Choralists who register for the atelier for a maximum of two consecutive days.
  • participants (concert package, handicapped persons’ escorts, volunteers, spectators) who do not attend an atelier

Individuals who are not members of the À Cœur Joie association must pay a membership fee which entitles them to all the association’s services for the 2024/2025 season. The membership fee entitles the member to a 66% tax receipt.

The membership fee is €54 per adult, €27 for 18-25 year olds and €11 for minors.

Members of a member choir benefit from a preferential membership fee (49€ adults, 25€ from 18 to 25 years old, 9€ for minors). Contact your choir director.

Image rights

By registering, the participant or his/her legal representative tacitly authorizes the À Cœur Joie association to use the photos, videos or sound media in which he/she may appear, for publication in all communication media. The association declines all responsibility in the event of any misuse by a third party. It expressly refrains from using the photographs in any way that might infringe on privacy or reputation.

Behavior

Each participant in the Choralies is expected to behave in a respectful manner towards other participants, the team and the image of the festival. In the event of any breach of the usual rules of courtesy, safety or health regulations, the organizers reserve the right to issue a warning or to exclude a participant permanently from the Choralies.

The Workshops

Workshop selection and assignment

When you register, you must indicate your choice of atelier or combination of ateliers (compatible with your arrival date and the length of your stay). We suggest you make a second alternative choice if the first is unavailable.

The organization will then try to accommodate these requests as best it can, depending on the number of places available, the balance between voices and other constraints inherent to the atelier. You will be notified of your final assignment in late spring 2025.

Ateliers levels

Ateliers are divided into three categories:

  • Easy: You like to sing
  • Intermediate: You are comfortable with a score, memorize easily and have choral singing experience.
  • Advanced: You can sight-read and have a good foundation in vocal technique.

Some ateliers require advance preparation. This may involve reading scores, working on audio files, etc. The aim is to enable participants to work efficiently throughout the duration of the atelier, for the enjoyment of all involved.

Sheet music

To comply with copyright regulations, workshop participants must be in possession of original scores. L’utilisation de photocopies est interdite.

The scores required for the ateliers will be indicated when the workshop assignment is confirmed.

Éditions À Cœur Joie sells sets of sheet music per atelier at preferential rates, to make your life easier! They can be ordered in advance or purchased on the spot.

Workshop manager

You can enhance your participation in an atelier by volunteering to take on the role of stage manager. During the mornings, you’ll be the point of contact between the conductor, the singers and the organization. Your role is not to find solutions to every question, but to pass on those you can’t simply deal with to the festival’s team of volunteers, who will take care of them.

This mission involves coordinating the practical aspects of running rehearsals:

  • participant verification (badge check)
  • validation of material conditions (chairs, desks, pianos)
  • treatment of minor problems (if possible)
  • be the choir conductor’s main contact on these matters.

Concerts

The Choralies festival offers a wide range of choral music concerts in a variety of styles. These performances are divided into :

  • Every day, from July 31 to August 7, at 4:00 pm, at several venues in Vaison-la-Romaine, 1.5-hour concerts featuring 2 or 3 choirs or atelier concerts.
  • every day from July 30 to August 7 (excluding August 3), at 8:30 p.m. for the open singing session and evening shows at the Théâtre Antique.

Please note :

  • It’s important to note that the Haute-Ville church in the old town of Vaison-la-Romaine is not easily accessible for people with reduced mobility.
  • Atelier concerts are generally divided into two or three parts, each involving several ensembles. Members of one ensemble may not attend the other’s concert directly, except on presentation of a ticket.

Buy concert tickets

In spring 2025, an online ticketing service will be available on the Choralies website, enabling visitors to reserve and order tickets for evening performances at the Théâtre Antique, as well as for daytime concerts. These same purchases will also be possible during the festival or directly at the Billetterie set up in the Village des Choralies, subject to availability.

Free concerts for the Choralistes

Each Choraliste can use his badge to attend concerts at the Théâtre Antique during his period of presence.

They also receive a certain number of free tickets to afternoon concerts, depending on the number of days they have been registered.

  • 8 days = 5 tickets
  • 7 days = 4 tickets
  • 5 or 6 days = 3 tickets
  • 3 or 4 days = 2 tickets
  • 1 or 2 days = 1 ticket

Passager-chanteurs” are only entitled to a ticket for the concert at the Théâtre Antique.

Selection and allocation will take place via the online ticketing system. At the beginning of June 2025, each Choralist will receive an e-mail containing an Internet link and a specific code enabling him/her to reserve tickets for the concerts he/she prefers, according to the number of tickets he/she has and subject to availability on the date. The selection process will require tickets to be distributed among the various Choralies concert venues.

Free concerts for volunteers

As part of their mission, volunteers from the Front of House, Stage Management and Box Office departments are able to attend afternoon concerts.

Volunteers “without atelier” from other departments will also have this option. They will benefit from 3 access rights that can be used on a day-to-day basis, without the possibility of booking, within the limit of available seats at the entrance. Information on remaining places by concert venue will be communicated via the Choralies application on their smartphone.

Junior Area

This structure welcomes children and teenagers aged 4 to 17, registered as Choralists, with or without choral singing experience. Espace Juniors participants benefit from access to the Théâtre Antique’s evening events on the days they attend. All Espace Junior activities take place at the À Cœur Joie Escapade center.

For ages 8-17: Junior Ateliers

Ateliers Juniors are long workshops, lasting 8 days, and require enrolment over 8 days. The rehearsal schedule is the same as for the adult ateliers. The young person undertakes to respect the daily schedule.

For ages 4-12

L’Atelier Loisirs Enfants (the Leisure atelier)

The Atelier Loisirs Enfants (Children’s Leisure Workshop) offers leisure activities (sports, art, music…) in the mornings. It is reserved for children whose parents are registered as Choralists on the same days, enabling them to follow their own atelier without worrying about childcare. Supervision will be provided by volunteers with extensive experience in managing children, and activities will be adapted to the various age groups. Places are limited.

Les Après-Midi Juniors (Junior Afternoons)

For children enrolled in a Junior atelier or the Atelier Loisirs Enfants. Afternoon activities, games, sports or music. Registration on site, on a daily basis, with the supervisors, subject to availability.

NB: Espace Junior does not look after children during lunch breaks. Their legal guardians undertake to collect them for lunch.

Catering

A collective open-air restaurant has been specially set up in the centre of Vaison-la-Romaine during the Choralies. It’s a meeting place for everyone – organisers, conductors, singers and musicians.

Meals will include a varied choice of dishes, cheeses, dairy products, fruit and desserts to suit all festival-goers. It will be possible to subscribe to vegetarian menus when selecting your catering mode (no vegan option). The short-lived nature of the restaurant means that we cannot cater for individual allergies or special dietary requirements.

Cost-effective, customized formulas

It will be possible to buy tickets on site within the limits of available meals, but it is safer and more economical to subscribe to one of the three packages that you can combine:

  • Breakfasts: breakfasts during your registration period
  • Lunches: lunches during your registration period
  • Dinners: the dinners of your registration period [c’est à dire le dîner de la veille de chaque jour d’atelier]

You can also extend these date slots, before or after, to suit your actual presence on site, subject of course to the festival’s opening days.

Smart: Benefit from a lower unit price (-15%) when you subscribe to a package (or combination of packages) that includes more than 10 meals.

See Rates section

Camping des Choralies

A temporary campsite is set up for the duration of the Choralies, offering an economical, local accommodation solution. Access is reserved exclusively for festival registrants, and only on the day(s) their badge is valid.

Camping registration does not include any meals or breakfasts, which must be purchased under Catering.

All occupants must be registered for the Choralies. Rates are per person, not per pitch. For individual tents or camper vans, you must specify at the time of registration who will be the “holder” reserving the pitch and who will be the other persons accommodated.

Registration for the Choralies campsite implies acceptance of the rules and regulations which can be consulted on the “Documents” page, and which detail opening hours and conditions, common requirements and safety obligations.

Any other form of accommodation is a private initiative, for which the organizer accepts no responsibility.

Three sleeping arrangements are available at the campsite:

Collective tents

Modular structures can accommodate 6 or 10 people, each with a camp bed, mattress, chair and coat hanger. They have no lighting or electrical outlets. The festival does not provide sheets, comforters, blankets or pillows.

Separate tents for men and women are preferred, but cannot be guaranteed (presence of groups, families, occupancy rates).

A deposit of 20€ will be required for the mattress on arrival at the campsite.

Individual tents

You bring your own tent and sleeping bag. As the allotted area is limited, its size must be adapted to the number of occupants and must not encroach on the space required by other Choralists (no awnings).

Camper vans

They will park on a dedicated municipal lot, subject to availability of spaces on arrival. They will be able to connect to the electricity network via their extension lead, and empty their wastewater, but connection to the water network is not possible.
